After completing his military service in Munich and Ulm, Michael started his studies in political science and sociology at the University of Stuttgart, specializing in the theory of science, statistics and empirical social research.
In 1997 Michael started working at the Schwarz Group and played a key role in the company‘s expansion of Kaufland to Central and Eastern Europe from the beginning. In addition to the Czech Republic, in the years that followed, he travelled extensively for business to Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania. As a member of the management board responsible for marketing and communication Michael established an extensive team in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He supported teams in the aforementioned countries for the implementation of appropriate marketing strategies and communication with the public.
In 2018, after 20 years at Kaufland, he moved to REWE International as Head of Communications for CEE with responsibilities for BILLA's communications in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia.
Managing a large team of tens of employees at headquarters and many more on site. Structuring the organization into sub-units, defining processes, goals and overseeing their fulfillment.
International deployment in numerous countries, motivation of employees on site and virtually via video conferencing.
Teamwork and a very good knowledge of Slavic and German culture in general and business culture in particular are self-evident.
