HAMISH WEIR

Hamish completed his Bachelor's degree in Film and Media Studies in 2000. Soon after, he travelled to Taiwan where he spent the next 6 years crafting his trade as a language teacher as well as obtaining his TEFL Certificate. After returning to New Zealand in 2007, he went back to university and completed a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics.

Hamish began his language teaching and training career in 2000 in Taiwan. He taught children, teenagers and adults. During his time in Taiwan, he gained critical leadership experience as the head teacher of two branches of one of the largest languge schools in the country, Hess Education. After Returning to New Zealand, Hamish initially worked as an ESL teacher and then as Director of Studies for the Wellington branch at New Zealand Language Centres (NZLC).

In 2011, Hamish moved to the Czech Republic as Iternational Programmes Manager for NZLC, liasing with agents and partners in Central Europe in order to promote the NZLC brand. Hamish also oversaw the implementation of NZLC's TESOL Programme in Saudi Arabia while making connections with potential business partners in the Czech Republic, Vietnam and China.

In 2013, Hamish began working as a freelance languae teacher and consultant in Prague, CZ. This eventually led to the forming of Fantail Academy in 2017.

Hamish has more than 20 years' teaching, training and education management experience. In addition to this, he has gained invaluable knowledge and skills as the director of a small company operating in a highly competitive market.
